I'm trying to restore a cut yari pole and would like to hide the repair under a Kabura-maki or Chidome knot but don't know how it was originaly tied. Are there any online instructions on how this was done?

While looking this over more carefully I noticed something I missed initially. I assumed the saya was a textured lacquer surface and set it aside as nothing out of the ordinary. Today I noticed what seems like a panel of what looks to me like leather glued to each side. Is it possible that is what I'm seeing?

Leather was used on yari saya and naginata saya. I have seen quite a few yari saya with leather "covers"

As far as the chidome goes I have not had any luck finding out how its done. And I have looked. From what I can see on mine, I believe it it one piece of cord that starts off thin gradually gets thicker and tapers out thin again.
