Hello

I’m inquiring about the Japanese term for the hamon with such utsuri and the schools that introduced and made it.

thank you

Bad pictures, but I don't think its per se "real" utsuri. Hitatsura, sometimes it creates a somewhat blank, mirror-like yet very dark jigane. Especially on later than late Muromachi pieces, as probably here.

Thank you

I edited them to enhance the hamon

I could see hitstsura, couldn’t photo the utsuri ‘clouding’ over it :/

that might have given a bad impression

Thank you all for your ‘support’.

definitely not butt hurt but to know how many scholars are around and the fact i already pardoned the not so appealing photos (yeah right?) - i just find it absolutely personal that my question didn’t even get addressed!

while information is not free i only wanted a take on it … and no - it’s earlier than muromachi period ;)

thank you

feel free to close and erase the photos and the thread

peace be upon you

...in the second picture, in the habaki side, it seems shallows white utsuri (before the hitatsura coming from the mune). I don't think it is hadori made, but I still a beginer.

The sword have been given as Sue Koto.? I could search in books...

If it is from a koto school, it could be Hasebe, Shiga, Sue Soshu or Sue Bizen... after, at muromachie, styles copies  each other, this hitatsura seems particular... could be Hiroyoshi?

Difficult to guess without full pics...

Did the seller gives you an attribution or only the era ?

Hello

and thank you for writing. I’ve decided to submit it to NBTHK next year. I have a paper attributing it to Masahiro/Tsunahiro but it is not a reliable one although it has the stamp of an appraiser.

once I hear back I’ll report the result

thank you

That's quite a big name in Soshu, the hamon could match...the bohi is unusual in this kind of works.

I hope you this will be a good attribution, it will be very interesting to study.

he evaluated the blade as Tsunahiro/Masahiro

2 papers, same scholar

p.s I’d trade the majority of the languages I know if I could only read Japanese ;(

Hi Yv,

Are you asking me what the red seal says? Forgive me, but I cannot read it. Where is it located?

(The black character 男 looks like ‘-o’, perhaps the last letter of a vertical name.)
