JunS Posted July 31 Report Share Posted July 31 Can someone please help me to translate the mei. Supposedly it is saying: Hizen no kuni Mutsu no kami Tadayoshi Is the mei legit or a gimei. Does somebody know more about the smith or the sword? The sword does not have papers unfortunately. Nihonto student Posted August 1 Report Share Posted August 1 Dear Simon, 52cm of nagasa means that it is a wakizashi not a katana, regarding the quality of the work, more detailed photos would be needed for a better analysis but at first glance it would seem to me to be a fairly basic piece from the Shinto period. Just to add to your post and referencing the oshigata provided by Jacques, as I understand it tachi mei is often seen in katana but not usually for wakizashi and tanto.
