10 mm thick rim and weighing in at 292 grams. I was wondering just who has the heaviest tsuba out there?

Nambokuchu or earlier tachi tsuba at about 350-400g?

That's really heavy!

May I ask a question about balance?

How do a tsuba weighting at least a 1/3 of the weight of a sword affect the balance of the sword?

Were they "temples offerings"? It seems to have mounting marks...

Definitively, my "little" tsuba is out of race!

I can imagine that this thing is heavy.

That would be an understatement!  For those who can't visualise the sword size - here is one I prepared earlier   1447 to be exact.

Wow!   Size? Like how thick?

Curran,

The piece came with that monster shingen I have - the nakago ana are identical so it would appear they were possibly made for the same sword.

Dimensions: 99.8mm H X 99.8mm W X 11.5mm T

Not meaning to threadjack, but here's a couple of posts on this on FB
