Japan export permit takes longer than it used to ?

This used to take two weeks tops, have a friend that's been waiting 5 weeks.

 

Anyone else noticed? and know the reason?

Bunkacho has extended the wait to at least four weeks - express service no longer an option. They claim to be severely backed up…

I've been experiencing an average wait of 6 weeks for my last 6 swords out of Japan since March.

Thanks for sharing—it is good to know the current wait. With the relatively weak yen, I would guess there has been an increase in international buying that has added to the backlog.

I'm told the dealer received the permit, took 6 weeks.
