ottou812 Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Got this wakizashi recently. I would like learn more information from this mumei sword and find out whether if it's worth getting it professionally polished. I mentioned the habaki had stamped numbers on it in a post in Tosogu. Here are some pictures of the blade and the rest of the fittings that came with the wakizashi. motokasane 5.988mm motohaba 24.45mm Quote

Shinigami117S Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 is it just me or does it look like someone did the fingerstone polish but never finished the polish with nugui? Quote
Bazza Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Images in the first email appear to show the hamon running off the edge of the blade. If so, a "dead" sword. The ha also appears to curve in from the hamachi indicating either a tired old blade or one that has sustained severe enough damage (chipping) that the mihaba has been reduced. The tsuba and koiguchi are en suite and look interesting, but I'll leave the tosogu boys to comment on that. Barry Thomas. Quote
ottou812 Posted December 17, 2009 Author Report Posted December 17, 2009 I'm going to see if I can scan the wakizashi on my scanner to get some better images. I actually bought the sword because I like the fittings (mostly matching) not because it was a good blade. Quote
