Mumei: Thoght to be Kanemoto (兼元) in Noshu (濃州)

Circa Tensho (天正, 1573-1592)

Maybe the earlier Showa starting 1312? But then again, it doesn't look that early to me as there's a substantial hamachi...

That is another Showa. The paper says late Showa: 昭和 (1926 - 1989).

Im not criticizing the shinsa team but there’s absolutely no way this is a late showa blade especially after looking at other examples of the smith. Not even close…

 

and that is Kanemoto?

 

I’m just sooo confused and definitely disappointed 

 

I accept that shinsa is only an opinion but that opinion shouldn’t be centuries apart..

I understand your point of view, this nakago des not look showa at all. Not even shinto IMO....

 

Artificialy elder? ... Black rust FeO3 takes usualy 300 years or more...

I respect you chiming in - Indeed you’re right

 

no smell

no evidence of tempering (artificial aging)

 

black rust as nambokucho and the latter

 

and then the 2nd one -

 

that’s Kanemoto? Or Kanemitsu :D or earlier … no clue..
