Matsunoki Posted July 24, 2024 Report Posted July 24, 2024 Long barrel but looks small bore judging from the final section. Gingal is usually on a swivel/mount of some sort because of size. Early snipers? Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted July 24, 2024 Report Posted July 24, 2024 Definitely military rather than for duck hunting. Some kind of (captured?) muzzle-loading percussion wall-gun, …and they are dressed for northern climes, somewhere like Siberia. 1 Quote
Bazza Posted July 24, 2024 Report Posted July 24, 2024 Decades ago I read somewhere that the Jingal was a Chinese wall gun. This one appears to be percussion. BaZZa. 1 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted July 24, 2024 Report Posted July 24, 2024 https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/C135752 This was on display for many years, the scale is rather impressive in person. One has to sympathise with the two poor fellows who had to rest it on their shoulders....! 4 Quote
Alex A Posted July 25, 2024 Report Posted July 25, 2024 I was thinking what Bazza/Piers mentioned, a wall gun. Never seen one up close but saw a mechanism for one at an arms fair a while ago, it was massive, especially compared to the standard sizes. This one. price was a lot cheaper at the fair.
