Muaythaimals Posted July 15, 2024 Report Posted July 15, 2024 Im thinking of selling this nihonto I recently purchased. But this is the first nihonto I’ve had experience with so I’m not sure on what a reasonable price for it would be. I put up a post some time ago on here and on reddit to get help Identifying it and some were saying it could be a late edo period nihonto. So I got ahold of Mike Yamasaki through email and sent him some more in depth photos. His words were that from the pics it appears to be a nihonto from the late 1500s which shocked me. It is mumei and he also said that he wouldn’t be able to completely identify it unless he had it in hand. That’s pretty much all the information I have on it so far. I was planning on taking it to the southern California Japanese sword society meeting next month to possibly meet Mike and get further info. But considering my current financial situation I don’t believe I have the funds to take care of and own this sword. What would some of you consider a reasonable price for this sword in its current condition? I most likely will be making follow up sale post for it soon. Any input helps. Thank you Quote
Alex A Posted July 16, 2024 Report Posted July 16, 2024 Its difficult to help with a price because you give us so little info. Never seen a Koto Katana in koshirae, in the state its in for less than £1200 in the UK. Whether that helps or not, dunno. 2 Quote

That’s because I have very little info on it to begin with unfortunately haha. But your info does help and I very much appreciate it. 1 Quote
