TSURUTA-SAN is thrifty with his descriptions of TSUBA motives, but MATSUMOTO is probably not correct. I don't see a fan but a nicely decorated GEISHA's comb.

it is indeed the same TSUBA, and yes, it is not a good idea to use metal for suspending TSUBA for exposition. But let's hope they have a moisture-controlled atmosphere in the showcase! They had a number of TSUBA on show there:

The Museum even has school programs where they get students to design their own tsuba - and the Fan guard is used as an example https://education.as...ign-your-own-symbol/  &   https://education.as...n-sword-guard-tsuba/    Let us hope this may inspire future generations to become collectors or even modern craftsmen of the art. :)
