Curran Posted July 13, 2024 Report Posted July 13, 2024 Off hand, I cannot read the artist's signature. Both supposedly done when the artist was 71. To me, it looks like late Edo work derived from one of the Ichijo's students. Possibly student of a student of Ichijo? Thus, it doesn't strike me as likely to be gimei. If someone translates the name, I will look it up with my texts. 1 Quote

wakiboy Posted July 14, 2024 Author Report Posted July 14, 2024 Thanks for the replies, Do you think this could be Nobuyuki or were there lots of artists in the school signing this way…. Ian Quote
Curran Posted July 15, 2024 Report Posted July 15, 2024 I was pretty far off with this one. I would not have guessed Hamano derivative. Sorry that I cannot be of much help along this line. Dale and Jay have been much more useful. Quote

Robert S Posted July 17, 2024 Report Posted July 17, 2024 Curious that it seems to have the signature on both sides. Is that common? Quote
PhoenixDude Posted July 18, 2024 Report Posted July 18, 2024 The right side says it was made when he was 71 years old, and yes signatures extending to both the right and left of the nakago Ana are common. Quote
