drbvac Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 Looks like one of Mikes indeed. Quote
Jock Posted December 14, 2009 Author Report Posted December 14, 2009 .....very impressed guys - that is really taking this science further - looking at a sword and be able to tell the owner who made it, where and when - but you guys are a step further and have the ability to "sense" all the previous owners......impressed indeed! ) 10 out of 10 - I bought it from Mike/komonjo I'm allways stunned how one single individual can source such a vast amount of genuine swords - satisfy my interest and tell me where he gets all his blades from... machinist Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 I think this would be a good candidate for sending to Japan for a body cutting test. $20 says three through the hips Donald Edit- (This post is only presented as humorous content and in no way represents the opinion's, policy's or practice's of Nihonto Message Board, the nihonto collecting community or the Emperor of Japan and his mighty Diamyo. Do not cut yourself or others to test a sword. If this had been an actual practice, hippies would already be protesting. Thank you.) Quote
Jock Posted December 14, 2009 Author Report Posted December 14, 2009 ....I personally did quite a few cutting tests on a human body - never through the hips - allways on a finger and always on a finger that was attached to my body - the pain/blood kept me from trying to cut through my shoulders or hips....maybe in the future when I'm really brave and use my hips or neck to clean a blade! Stephen Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Don me thinks you might want to edit your post, we dont want newbies thinking one can do that or should do that with Nihonto. Thanks Don i was sure what that was but had point it out none the less. Quote
drbvac Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Well we shouldn't mind knowing one CAN do it - one just shouldnt. I can remember God forbid, dropping a katana and the hardest thing was NOT trying to catch it before it hit the floor. So always remember one can -- but should never forget how sharp these works of art really are! Quote
Chishiki Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Hi Jock. Can you post better pictures of both sides of the Nakago/tang so I can see the mei closer. Regards Mark Quote
