PhoenixDude Posted July 2, 2024 Report Posted July 2, 2024 Anyone know what this is supposed to depict? there are pine trees on the sides of the fuchi Quote
Steves87 Posted July 2, 2024 Report Posted July 2, 2024 (edited) Someone may know for sure. However, based on the smaller figure's hair style and the text scroll, I would say it is likely to be a Rin Nasei (Lin Hejing) theme. This is a Tsuba example of the theme. Spartancrest Posted July 3, 2024 Report Posted July 3, 2024 Have a look at this thread - Princess Leia, if I ever saw her! Jittoku and Kanzan the two brothers. 2 1 Quote
Steves87 Posted July 3, 2024 Report Posted July 3, 2024 Good one Dale! I think the finger pointing confirms that the most. Most depictions of Kanzan and Jittoku that I come across have both with the knotted hair, or one with knots and the other with straight hair.... I found it strange that one has a hat in this case. Here is a couple of Tsuba with two different hair depictions, one has both figures with knotted hair, and the other has both straight (possibly one is a hat). 2 Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted July 3, 2024 Report Posted July 3, 2024 Often shown, one with a broom or rake, the other with a scroll. 1 Quote
Spartancrest Posted July 3, 2024 Report Posted July 3, 2024 This image has both with weird hair - but what freaks me out is the fingernails! As Stephen already knows the little Tanto guards are very rare [well each is slightly different at least ] I think the early Beatles got their hairstyle from them? 1 2 Quote
