Gerry Posted June 28, 2024 Report Posted June 28, 2024 https://www.jauce.com/auction/1140541496 I've never seen a Japanese sword that doesn't have a nakago. The blade itself looks like one of the modern made ones Komonjo sells on eBay. Quote
Ray Singer Posted June 29, 2024 Report Posted June 29, 2024 The handle is the nakago. This is a kenuki-gata style of blade. 2 Quote

Ah, I wasn't familiar with the kenuki-gata style of sword. It seems the efu tachi are a prime example of this type of sword. So I guess kenuki-gata swords are never signed? Quote
Nickupero Posted June 30, 2024 Report Posted June 30, 2024 I have a nice yet rare example, utsushi by Suishinshi Masatsugu, signed with gold inlay Kao, as well as the Habaki and tsuba. its very interesting as the tsuba and other hardware is permanently affixed. First time I saw the NBTHK certify all the fittings and blade onto one paper. 1 3 1 Quote
