WW2 Japanese NCO tassel

I bought this tassel for my sword and it’s a bit dry Dose any one know what I can use to soften the leather without ruining the leather

Connolly's developed this Hide Cream for Rolls Royce originally. I do a lot of leatherwork, and have used it for nearly fifty years, and it the best hide care that I know of. Apply it, let it absorb, then polish with a soft cloth, and minutes later, you can sit in your Rolls Royce in your best clothes!

You sure it won’t damage the leather bring so old

Yes, it will only improve the life of the leather. Connolly is the best of the best. I used it on my antique saddle that was made before the 1906 San Francisco Fire - and it did wonders to improve the luster and life of the leather. (All thanks to recommendations on this forum, probably from @The Blacksmith )

Edit: I've also used Pecard brand Antique Leather Dressing with good success on other antique leather items.

Only you can say if it's too expensive, but 10oz for $33 - should last you a long long time. I'd go with the Connolly personally. 

The image below is the Pecard i've used. I'm not familiar or experienced with the version from your image.

It's good for all sorts of leather products and clothing. If you're crafty and savvy, you'll find multiple uses for it - and it will be well worth the price.

The leather on the tassel looks brand new so I'm thinking reproduction. Dented saya and the whole rig appears too clean to me. No clear picture of any stamps. Personally, at 1400 I would pass. You can get these all day for under 1000 on ebay in original condition. I've seen dozens go in the 800 range over the last couple of years. I would be patient on this one.

@Swords  You do not need to apply very much cream to the leather, about the same amount as your toothpaste, then rub it in gently, let it really soak in, and then gently buff it. It certainly wont damage anything, it is non greasy, and you can use it on coloured leather. It is by far the best I have ever used, and the jar will last for many years!

I  just used the cream It gave it a darker appearance Do I need to apply more than one coat? I  probably used to much but it soaked it in pretty good

 it took 2 coats and it turned out really nice It took me a while to figure out how to attach it correctly it but now it makes a big difference
