Slimsmiple Posted June 26, 2024 Report Posted June 26, 2024 “Presumably Kotō”. Canyone tell me more about this sword, it’s craftsmanship and quality, or provide an estimate? Quote
Brian Posted June 26, 2024 Report Posted June 26, 2024 Nakago. Without it, we can say very little. Quote
ROKUJURO Posted June 26, 2024 Report Posted June 26, 2024 Sebastian, we also need close-up photos of HAMON and HADA, the tip, and of course the tang, as Brian already stated. All photos should be made on a dark background, right from above, tip-upwards, light from the side, preferably presented as cut-out so nothing is disturbing the view. The KOSHIRAE looks like a nice HAN DACHI type, but the blade is the more important part. Quote
ROKUJURO Posted June 26, 2024 Report Posted June 26, 2024 Colin, you are correct; there are ASHI on the SAYA. Quote

I can try to take some new ones tomorrow if these aren’t useful. Imgur link: https://imgur.com/a/IsF6FQy 1 Quote
PhoenixDude Posted July 13, 2024 Report Posted July 13, 2024 Sugata looks koto to my amateur eye Quote
Franco Posted July 14, 2024 Report Posted July 14, 2024 My guess at this point would be Shinshinto or newer (meiji period). Perhaps not water quenched. Regards 1 Quote
Tohagi Posted July 20, 2024 Report Posted July 20, 2024 Hello Bruce, Is this nakago from the same Tachi sword? Very strange... Best regards, ÉricVD Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted July 20, 2024 Report Posted July 20, 2024 Yes, it's from his imgur link on his June 26 post. Quote
