rice123 Posted June 22, 2024 Report Posted June 22, 2024 Hello I am going tomorrow to look at an early NCO sword. I know very little about these. Is there anything that I should look for that would suggest that it is a fake. I know the seller, he is a WW11 collector and I trust him but I do not think he is very knowledgeable on Japanese stuff. thanks Quote

Butch Posted June 23, 2024 Report Posted June 23, 2024 If it’s an early sword it should be a copper handled version which is highly faked here is my example and also look at the bottom of the sayer if its an original it should have the round bottom not like the later ones which as a pressed steel drag Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted June 23, 2024 Report Posted June 23, 2024 And Ohmura's site has lots of quality photos you should study so you can recognize faker when it appears: Non-commissioned officers Gunto 1935 (Type 95 Guntō)/title> (ohmura-study.net) Quote
