Initial Type 95 Identification

Recommended Posts

In addition to three other odd edged weapons,I have this Initial type 95 I have finally gotten around to trying to properly identify. The scabbard serial number does not match the blade, however it is a substantial lower number. I am not particularly familiar with Japanese edged weapons but I am trying to learn (and potentially rehome)

Let me know if any further pictures would be appreciated!

It is indeed a type 95, Differing scabbard serial numbers usually means either wartime replacement as in the original scabbard was damaged and replaced by traveling swords repair teams or the other possibility is that it was a post war mix and match scabbard to replace a missing one. Regarding rehoming I would be glad to purchase it if it's for sale. If it is for sale feel free to dm me. Thanks
