Butch Posted June 21, 2024 Report Posted June 21, 2024 Having recently purchased the Copper handled NCO sword I thought I would post another NCO sword made by Seki Token Co .. It is again a matching number example but unusually it as the Manufacture's mark plus the inspectors mark of the the Nagoya arsenal but no arsenal mark .. I have to thank Bruce for his help and advice when I was thinking of purchasing it as he posted it on here for discussion before I did pull the trigger .. regarding the swords number being 130557 what year would the sword would have been made ? Many thanks Gareth Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted June 21, 2024 Report Posted June 21, 2024 Dang Gareth! That is in pretty pristine condition! I have one like that where I swear, the sergeant carried it must have been an accountant in a financial office and headquarters building somewhere. It never saw service in the field. I am also surprised to see the end of the bohi. It 90% follows the shape of the kissaki just like the Tokyo Arsenal blades do. A bit unusual for Nagoya. With these exceptions, you have quite an exceptional sword! Quote
Butch Posted June 22, 2024 Author Report Posted June 22, 2024 Is it unusual not to have the arsenal mark or is it sometimes found like my example ? Gareth Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted June 22, 2024 Report Posted June 22, 2024 It is unusual, but not unheard of. @Shamsy and @Stegel could tell you, but neither of them have been active for a while. @BANGBANGSAN or @Kiipu might track things like that. Quote
