C0D Posted June 21 Report Posted June 21 I just got informed that the tsuba I sent for this year's NBTHK contest got awarded Nyusen 1st! This is a great result for me as I ranked 6 positions higher than last year. I will keep practicing to improve my skills and hopefully get an higher rank next year. 19 10 3 Quote

ROKUJURO Posted June 21 Report Posted June 21 Good work, Manuel, and very good result! Congratulations! Is this an UTSUSHI of an existing TSUBA or is it completely your idea and design? Quote

Gunome Posted June 21 Report Posted June 21 Hello Manuel Congrats for you work and for your award ! Best regards Sebastien Quote
Marius Posted June 21 Report Posted June 21 I don’t think pictures give it justice. I have seen it in hand and it was truly fantastic. I had the impression of holding a Norisuke tsuba (and that’s a compliment because he was a great tsuba maker who made many copies of famous Owari tsubako). It was so good I wanted to keep it! well done Manuel! 😊👍🏻 1 1 Quote

Gakusee Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 Well done Coden! Excellent achievement. I remember jointly checking out your other tsuba during the 2023 DTI and looking at its original-inspiration progenitor tsuba. This one is even better. 1 1 Quote
kissakai Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 I've shown this one before. It is one of Manuel's tsuba to my specification As always it's better in hand 4 5 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted June 23 Report Posted June 23 Fantastic, it would be interesting to see the original Tsuba for comparison. Quote
C0D Posted June 23 Author Report Posted June 23 This is the original one I actually have some better pictures of this tsuba but i've been asked not to share them around. Of course in comparison with the original mine is still many steps below. 4 1 Quote

C0D Posted June 23 Author Report Posted June 23 i quote directly Markus Sesko's description: "It bears on the side with the mei the inscription “un wa ten ni ari” (運有天, “Fate lies with heaven”), the ura side of this piece bears the Buddhist prayer “Namu Myôhô Renge Kyô” (南無妙法蓮華経, “Glory to the Sutra of the Lotus of the Supreme Law”)." 2 1 1 Quote
C0D Posted June 25 Author Report Posted June 25 NBTHK published the results and with my surprise i'm the only foreigner in the category. To be just one step from a prize as a foreigner and amateur is at the same time making me proud and pushes me to improve even more! 1kinko Posted October 28 Report Posted October 28 I'm most interested in Ford Hallam's submitted tsuba. Paul Martin used to provide a link that showed images of the awarded tosogu. Can anyone please provide a link to any such images? 1 Quote
