Matsunoki Posted June 17, 2024 Report Posted June 17, 2024 At the Birmingham Arms Fair yesterday a nice chap called Peter brought an Itomaki no Tachi to show me. He departed but later returned looking for a fitting that he had lost. We searched but couldn’t find it. Well as I was leaving the Fair I found it under a neighbouring stand and have it safely secured. If anyone knows who this Peter is (could have been Peter Rock but my hearing ain’t good in background noise) please get him in touch with me and I’ll send it to him. I’m sure he is very upset….needlessly. Thanks Colin 3 2 Quote
Brian Posted June 17, 2024 Report Posted June 17, 2024 Try calling the Token Society, maybe they know of a collector with a similar name? Could it be Peter Cook? 1 1 Quote
Matsunoki Posted June 17, 2024 Author Report Posted June 17, 2024 Pretty sure it’s Peter Rock. He said his first and second name meant the same thing and Peter does indeed mean Rock. Wish my hearing was a bit sharper and also my memory. I feel so sorry for how he must feel. Met so many people in such a short time……. Someone will know him. Quote

Matsunoki Posted June 17, 2024 Author Report Posted June 17, 2024 Contacted Token….not a member. Not Stone……I heard something like Rock or Roche. I’ll keep searching Quote

robinalexander Posted June 18, 2024 Report Posted June 18, 2024 Bit late Colin, sounds like its resolved but for interest..... many moons ago I worked with a postal chap by the name of Peter Crook and he was a Pom (£10 'der). Tall, lanky with hair as white as the driven snow. Just a random memory 🙂 Quote

Tautologous Posted June 19, 2024 Report Posted June 19, 2024 Hi I'm the Peter that Colin was looking for. Yesterday I received the best email ever when he contacted me to say that he had found my missing part (it's the metal trim to the koi guchi which doubtless has its own name). I just want to put on record my appreciation of the time and trouble that Colin has gone to on my behalf and a thank you to the members of the forum, particularly Mark C, in helping him find me. Mark C Posted June 19, 2024 Report Posted June 19, 2024 You are more than welcome Peter, Just glad it was found and it all worked out. See you at the next Brum show unless you go to Bedford? All the best 1 Quote
The Blacksmith Posted June 20, 2024 Report Posted June 20, 2024 I cannot answer for others Peter, but I for one would love to see a picture of the sword if possible please. I love all Japanese swords and daggers, and it is the subject of this thread I know, but there is just something special about an itomaki-no-tachi koshirae. Russ Quote
