Jean Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 David, It depends on where you live (from what I remember) If there is no transhipment or if they have an office locally they accept. Quote
David Flynn Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Sorry Jean, I don't follow what you mean. EMS is through the Post office. Quote
Jean Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 I am perhaps mixing things (probably, I just woke up) but we receive EMS in Paris. I think the best should be to ask our friends in Japon. You shall notice that Tsuruta san is once again showing, all-in prices (including delivery) perhaps have they changed their minds I think it has been already mentioned in one topic. Quote
yaklord Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 As far as I understand the sword export laws of Japan, the swords must be exported via Japan Post EMS. The customs office that I use in Osaka always requires that I go to a certain Japan Post office near the customs office. Quote
takeda81 Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 Hello from Romania guys, Nice to meet you, I am a nihonto beginner in Romania. I think Jean is right, yes, there is a new rule in Japan which says that if there is no direct flight between 2 countries, a blade cannot be sent by EMS , just by ground mail which takes time and ussualy it is not insured. The rule works just for Japan because I was able to buy Japanese swords from US, by Ebay and also from other countries. Still I remember that last time when I was in Japan I had a wakizashi in my bags / old koshirae, new inox blade just for fun and training and nobody cared to ask me about that. best regards , Chris Quote
moss Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 Hello all, In sunny Queensland you can apply to import double sided blades. It is a bit of a process and can be a frustrating wait. I have never bothered personally but a friend of mine brings in "daggers" on a regular basis, there is no accounting for bad taste but he loves those german pig stickers. If any one is interested here in Oz I will get the low down for you. I know the whole process takes a few months. Cheers Moss Quote
