Banton989 Posted June 17, 2024 Report Posted June 17, 2024 Hi all, Nice little inscription on a Kai-Gunto tsuka, I've read the top 5 kanji as Matsuyama Suikosha (Matsuyama Navy Officer Club) can anyone help with the final bottom one please? Thanks in advance Adam Quote
Banton989 Posted June 17, 2024 Author Report Posted June 17, 2024 松山水交社? Is what I think it is so far. 1 Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted June 17, 2024 Report Posted June 17, 2024 Ah, thanks Adam, yes. All I can think of at the moment is something like 軍 , but could another character have been worn away further round underneath? Quote
BANGBANGSAN Posted June 17, 2024 Report Posted June 17, 2024 Adam 松山 水交社 Matsuyama Suikosha, Matsuyama Navy Officer Club。 I replied to your post on FB around 2 weeks ago. The rest of Kanji could be numbers (一x七/1x7?), but I don't know for sure. You should post as many photos as possible so we can figure out what it was. This photo you posted on FB, looks like 二ノ部(the second part)? 1 Quote
Banton989 Posted June 17, 2024 Author Report Posted June 17, 2024 Ah that was you Trystan! Thankyou for that 😁. I thought it may be someone on here. Will see what else I can find. Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted June 17, 2024 Report Posted June 17, 2024 切羽 is seppa, Setsu + hane. Setsu is 切る Kiru, meaning to cut. This could be 2 cuts, or the second cut, or short form for 2 seppa? 1 Quote
