paul griff Posted June 16, 2024 Author Report Posted June 16, 2024 Thanks to all for the information..much appreciated….Couldn’t believe people were picking it up and putting it down and to be honest I thought it was an old blade which is my preferred choice…I won’t say how how much but every sword was under 1k… Regards, Paul.. 3 Quote
lonely panet Posted June 16, 2024 Report Posted June 16, 2024 Mei looks like kotani Yasunori. Sad the mei is so degraded. Whats the blades condition?? I had one similar condition and sold it to ray. 1 Quote
George KN Posted June 16, 2024 Report Posted June 16, 2024 Wow Paul, that looks great! I've never been to the Birmingham arms fair (assuming it was from here since it was today), I always assumed it would be really expensive - but I think I'll show up to the next one... Congrats again 1 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted June 17, 2024 Report Posted June 17, 2024 Nice find, agree with Kotani Yasunori. The Nakago looks typical of those exposed to saltwater, or humid jungle conditions. Are there any marks on the Seppa? 1 Quote
paul griff Posted June 17, 2024 Author Report Posted June 17, 2024 Thanks to everyone for the information and comments…Blade is in superb condition, seppa and tsuba are numbered 49 and the saya is the lightweight wooden type….Nakago has had the active rust treated and stabilised… Regards, Paul.. Volker62 Posted June 18, 2024 Report Posted June 18, 2024 great find agree with John, the mei looks without doubt like kotani Yasunori is the Habaki silver foil? 1 Quote
Volker62 Posted June 18, 2024 Report Posted June 18, 2024 is there perhaps a silver mon on the top of the sword's handle? Quote
paul griff Posted June 18, 2024 Author Report Posted June 18, 2024 Hello, No mon on the tsuka Volker and yes the habaki is silver foil….Trystan , photo’s of the lightweight saya and fittings attached and for comparison the lightweight saya on a 23rd Generation Kanefusa…. Paul. Quote

By the way, they are the exclusive distributor for the 23rd generation Kanefusa. 3 1 Quote
