Assistance with Translation of New Katana Purchase

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone!!

I recently acquired this sword and would appreciate any help from the community to either translate / authenticate what I purchased or disclose anything that might seem incorrect.

Please see sword description below.

Signed: "Bakufu samurai Kawai Hisayuki, age 82, made this jointly with son Hisakazu" and dated 1867.  NBTHK Hozon Token paper dated 2014, NTHK Kanteisho dated  2019.

Hello

I'm a little confused - have you attached photos of a different blade? The certificates are for a Bakumatsu era( Keio 2) blade by Bakufushi Kawai Hisayuki, made at age 82 jointly with his son/heir (different on each certificate 久数 Hisakazu in nbthk, and 久正 Hisamasa on the Nthk cert)

Also I don't see any bonji horimono on your photos even though it's in the description...

Hey Matt,

It was the description that was wrong. Sorry for the error!

I have updated the post with the correct (short) description!!

Thank you for catching that!!!
