Umetada Tsuba

I bought this tsuba 12 years ago from Grey Doffin, it's a very nice one, but I'm changing the focus of my collection, so this has to go.  I still wonder about the face of the dragon, if it's grumpy or happy...

 

Iron Tsuba with a deep smooth and silky patina, signed Yamashiro no Kuni Nishijin Ju Umetada Shigemitsu - not papered.

Patina is darker and more blackish brown than in the Pictures.

Nice tsuba.

    Knowing the school, the period, and having owned a work by a similar artist-  I recommend taking photos in different light.

I know what you say is true:  it is definitely more blackish brown and deep than is evident in the high orange light photos you have taken.

Hi Curran, you are right! So I tried my best, the color is better in these pics - and you can also see that there is a little surface rust on the backside, which I didn't realize before (the first pics are a bit old) but it's not a serious problem - nevertheless I reduce the price to 420 Euro.
