Who collects WW2 and said he had a nice pilot sword he'd trade for one of my high end WW2 firearms.   Looks like he bought it from one of the big ebay sellers,  however the koshirae does look interesting.   Any expert opinions?  Bruce what do you think?    Haven't made any trades yet but not sure how motivated I should be to drive 2 hours to look at it.   Don't think it would come cheap from the conversation.

Best regards,

   Bob

Ignore the line about tanker and pilot sword. That is a myth. But that looks like it’s probably a really nice blade to own!  You would need to post better pictures of the blade itself and you should post a good clear picture of that rank tassel. If it is legitimate, it is a general tassel worth over $1000 by itself.

When someone mentions tanker or pilots sword assume they want a lot. Koshirae is interesting/nice and looks like higher grade leather was used for saya cover.  Tsuka looks metal wrapped?

Tassel looks suspicious to me. Ends seem way to bulbous and tassel itself looks like shoelace too me.

Forget the fittings. Focus on the blade. Maybe gimei, but you should check it out, as he's a reasonably big name. Enough to not just write it off instantly.

Thanks for the opinions guys, I'll do a little homework on Yoshimichi and visit when I am out that way for a sale or auction,  won't take time off to make the trip as a special event.
