Banton989 Posted June 6, 2024 Report Posted June 6, 2024 Hi all, Spotted this Navy tassel with an almost golden coloured knot on it, any thoughts on it? I can't find any reference, replacement, embelleshment etc? Thanks in advance, Adam Quote
robinalexander Posted June 6, 2024 Report Posted June 6, 2024 Hi Adam.... I would hazard a guess and say that it does not belong on an IJN tassel. I believe antique dealers call it 'married'. Whether it was 'married' period or post war..........IMO I think the later. Rob 1 Quote

paul griff Posted June 6, 2024 Report Posted June 6, 2024 Hello Adam, It’s a reproduction…Colour is too dark, round bullion above tassel too big ,the material is too thick and the sliding barrel is probably off another different shade reproduction knot.. Regards, Paul. 1 1 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted June 7, 2024 Report Posted June 7, 2024 For comparison, these are genuine examples with two being attached to the swords since WWII: 2 2 Quote

Paul G Posted June 13, 2024 Report Posted June 13, 2024 I once bought a tassel exactly like that. I bought it as a reproduction. Its pretty close, but off just a bit. The gold slider does not have the cardboard insert that you would expect to see on an original tassel slider. PG- 1 1 Quote
