Japanese or foreign made Tsuba?

I recently purchased a Tsuba with tokubetsu kicho papers. The papers state it has a nanban style which is very apparent. I was wondering if the Tsuba was made with the nanban style in Japan or if it was foreign made to begin with. Any help is very appreciated.

It looks like the hitsu ana is a modification with a shakudo fukerin bordering the ana. I have a similar example with an added hitsu-ana/shakudo fukerin.

My two best Namban tsuba is one with no 'ana' and a very fine kinko example

Hey Steve, thank you for sharing this as it is strikingly similar to mine. Do you know if yours is of Japanese or Chinese origin as well as a range for the date it was made?

Like Mauro says, who (really) knows? I try not to get caught up in exact dates, the important thing in my eye is the work which went into making something such as this, and then relating it to the costs and effort of someone making it in modern times (by traditional methods)....

In any case, and like Okan believes, I feel that your example is more likely to be of Japanese origin because of the design elements (eg. fan, clove, shippo mon?), but I'm just guessing.

Thanks Steve, I believe you are absolutely right in that the work put into the piece is more deserving of appreciation rather than the period it was made in. I am also thinking it is more of Japanese origin but yeah, who really knows. Anyways, thank you for the replies.
