Get Paid Pawn Posted June 3, 2024 Report Posted June 3, 2024 Hey fellas, couple more Katanas walked into the shop last week. Need to call on your expertise again. Any help and information would be much appreciated. If they're real I'd like to know how to tell, and if they are repros I'd like to know as well. Thanks in advance. I will upload the second set of pics on a different post. Quote

Bruce Pennington Posted June 4, 2024 Report Posted June 4, 2024 JJ, There are several signs of fakery, but you can easily see this one. When swords come into your shop, check the blade tip. If it's angled, like this one, it's a sure sign of Chinese fakery: They should have a nice, gradual curve, like this one: 3 Quote
John C Posted June 4, 2024 Report Posted June 4, 2024 Another red flag is the obvious "damascus" pattern in the steel. This was an uncommon method of folding in Japanese swords. John C. 2 1 Quote
