This is a buddies sword from the gun show circuit. He asked me if i could snap some pictures and get a bit of information from all the smart people here. Any idea on a name or blade info would be really neat.  They are cell phone pictures so not the best I apologize for that. Thanks for your help everyone.

Sesko's Swordsmiths of Japan has the following entry (though the last name Adachi in this listing is probably incorrect – there are plenty of Google hits for 安藤兼基 and none for 安達兼基):

(安達吉左衛門), born November 12th 1893, he worked as a guntō smith and died December 13th 1950
