Earthlink.net links inop

Brian,

Do you know the reason none of the links to Earthlink.net pages work anymore?  I assumed the company with out of business, but all searches online make it look like they are an active company.

Which ones are you referring to? Rich hosted the Japanese Sword Index at Earthlink, but I offer to pay for and host the site, so all of those links are now at www.japaneseswordindex.com

Doing a search of NMB - earthlink.net - I get 24 pages.  I didn't check them all, but every one I checked gets this result:

That's because the old earthlink pages don't exist anymore. Rich shut down his old hosting. I took it over and took over the hosting...registered japaneseswordindex.com myself, and continue to host it there.
Hence any http://www.home.earthlink.net/~steinrl/.... links need to be replaced with http://www.japaneseswordindex.com/....
That new link would be http://www.japaneseswordindex.com/koa.htm

No easy automated way to fix them all, can only manually do it as we come across them.

I see now.  I just scanned 6 of the 24 pages showing earthlink.net posts and the massive majority of them are Stein links.  There are a couple more guys ~jggilbert and ~rsblade, so earthlink.net has either stopped allowing personal site creation (don't know the terminology) or these guys have simply stopped their sites, like Rich.

Jim Gilbert's site is gone. I am editing most of Rich's links to go to the new site, even though they will show the old link. Will take a bit of time.

Thanks Brian.  No pressure.  I came to notice this during searches for stamps and thought I was missing out on something.  But now that I know these are from Japaneseswordindex it's not that big of a deal.
