Hello,

I've had this 25 years and was finally motivated to seek a translation of this saya insert.

The sword is a middling o-suriage shinto wakizashi in unmarked M1905 fittings.

Always assumed the kanji were just  assembly notes but am curious to find out the facts, if possible.    I apologize if the kanji are inverted.                                                                                                       William G.

弐拾七号 It means #27

(I don't know what the loop with the line through it signifies... maybe 日 - nichi - which means day/sun, not sure if it has any significance).

William:

On some of my saya inserts, the number has matched the rest of the fittings. Is 27 stamped on any of yours?
