oneshot onekill Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 Sorry if the title is offensive but I'm hoping for a little help here... Or to be put in my place. There's an auction on Ebay #250534769641. The seller is claiming it's a Shin-Shinto Blade with a Military Acceptance Stamp (Showa). I tried to inform the seller that if it has a Showa Stamp it couldn't possibly be a Shin-Shinto Blade because they only put a Showa Stamp on a "Showa-to" blade. His claim is that they stamped older blades that were re-mounted and accepted by the military for use during the War. My research indicates that's wrong. What's the real story. This guy is starting to tick me off because he's basically called me "stupid". I thought I was just trying to help someone who was mis-informed.... OR am I wrong. Thanks in advance... John
Bazza Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 Unquestionably a gunto. Koshirae is a rebuild of some sort. Barry Thomas.
Grey Doffin Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 He's wrong about the stamp, also; it's the Showa stamp, not Seki. I've never seen a blade made before Showa that had a stamp, and I don't believe it ever happened. The seller has a terrible bed side manner. Even if he were right, why piss off a potential customer? SwordGuyJoe Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 Nothing to put you in your place about - you're right, he's wrong. I believe the blade is Toshiharu - http://home.earthlink.net/~ttstein/toshharu.jpg - although I couldn't tell you anything about the guy. I found one in Seki named Mori Toshiharu.
Ted Tenold Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 John, Walk away from it knowing the facts. Never argue with a fool or a drunk. Fuggetabowdet...
DirkO Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 John, Never argue with a stubborn fool. They pull you down to their level and beat you on experience :D
Bugyotsuji Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 Reminds me of the man who walked into a pub and asked for a pint of bitter... When you know you are right but the other bloke is not listening, bide your time. It will come...
Bruno Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 I saw the sword of course it is a showato! http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 3D1&_rdc=1
Bruno Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 Wooo!!! This seller is terrible!!! After looked at the sword I told him gently that his sword might be a showato and that it could have done a mistake;I was very polite. Here is answer: "Hi, you have been blocked from bidding, happy thanksgiving." I do not care coz I do not want the sword but why being so stupid! Sad seller!
Weidas Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 really strange. I believe i bought something from him before, bayonet, i think, and it was ok with communication and shipping. I noted that he constantly offers mid to lower grade Japanese military edged weapons and i couldn't think he can be so ..reactive. considering pictures i would have doubts that's even showato... and definetly wouldn't even try to consider obtaining THAT item.
Bruno Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 I should not post the other insulting answer he sent me, some NMB members could be shocked. BTW, he knows our forum, I guess he could be also a "member of NMB" as he has probably read the topic. After his so shocking and insulting answers I was not so polite with him! Even if I should not. Debate closed for me. Regards
Weidas Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 maybe it shouldn't be started? a lot of people here suggested that...
Bruno Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 Definitively! :D It was a waste of time!
