I may read YASU HIRO for the 2 last kanji but would. appreciate a translation help for the whole mei.

Any idea on whose smith he is supposed to be? Or is it a fancy/honorific mei?

No, just a regular mei (location + name).

But I am a little suspicious of the maker, because when I search on this name, I only get hits from scam auction sites.

I don't get any hits from any Japanese dealers. So it might be a maker in China, manufacturing modern replica kogatana.

I could not find any other mei to compare so most likely fake indeed.

More diifcult to spot chinese kogatana than china-to!
