does anyone know whom this collection belongs to?

I was approached by off this forum  to buy, by lady on behalf of her ill father.  sounded lagitamate but suddenly went quite. 

 

Im thinking its a scam and the real owner of the collection should be made aware of the use of there photos.  approx 80 military swords all up.

the usual test is to ask the seller to send a picture with a card/paper with his/her name and contact info in the picture

 

this looks a bit like Sam Young's (samurai Sam) swords but it has been a few years since i visited him. I think he may have passed away but i doubt someone legitimate would be selling things this way

Save one of the photos to your computer, go to Google images and do a "reverse image" search. You'll upload the photo to their search engine, and it will find all instances of the same or similar photos that turn up in its search algorithm. If you get the same or similar photos, then you've got a fraudster if said lady isn't the daughter of Sam Young.

I'll go ahead and see what turns up for you.

 

Update: Did a quick search using Google lens. None of the photos turned up anywhere else online. So they are likely to be taken for the first time. Which makes it more likely this is legitimate, but still: caveat emptor.

Very easy to photoshop that stuff these days. Not to be trusted. Safest way to authenticate a seller is to have a video chat and let the seller scan the items they're offering. At least that proves they have said items in their possession.

Hello Hamish, is this collection in SA?  Some months back a new member here advised that his father had gone into care, and the member was seeking advice re his Dad’s vast collection.  I have met his father on a number of occasions ‘around town’ and he was a long-time collector of Nihonto.

Im aware of Ottos condition and his collection. This one is different. 

 

Im not after comments about nice swords from seagulls, im trying to warn others and notify the true owners of the collection that there collection is being offered for sale by possible scams
