The serial number of the Type 95 is located on the opposite side?

I came across this Type 95 on Facebook. Interestingly, the serial number is situated on the opposite side. This is the first one of its kind that I have ever seen.

Oh wow, never seen that before. I wonder if there is a real "reason" for it besides "ooops, oh well"

Since it's the only one we've seen - no way to tell.  We have seen other "Oops" stamps, though, especially on the 95s.
