Northeastern Port Posted April 7, 2024 Report Posted April 7, 2024 Hello This is a new katana for me. No papers, in need of a touch-up polish but very interesting shape with the double hi running the entire length of the blade. Im hoping the translation will give a clue to the smith, age, etc. Thank you for the help. I love this forum! Everyday is something new to see and learn. Quote

Northeastern Port Posted April 8, 2024 Author Report Posted April 8, 2024 Thank you again for taking the time to reply to this post. Thank you Moriyama for posting the auction link. Having followed the auction can you give any information or insight into this blade? Anything helps and is much appreciated! thank you for your time. Quote
waljamada Posted April 8, 2024 Report Posted April 8, 2024 Really neat blade and you got it for a good price! Great shape, cool double bohi and looks to have some good size to it. Early 1900s blade so still has arund 100 years of age to it. Esthetically it's the kind of blade I love! Congrats! Side note but kind of proud of myself because when looking it over, the mei, nakago etc...I thought it was maybe late late 1800s to early 1900s and then Google Taisho era and discover my eye was right-ish. PNSSHOGUN Posted April 8, 2024 Report Posted April 8, 2024 A pupil of Kiyondo? Mei doesn't look very well cut, weird space with the last character in the Nengo, and it's odd for the special order inscription to start above the Yasurime. Quote

Northeastern Port Posted April 9, 2024 Author Report Posted April 9, 2024 All of these replies to my question are amazing! Thank you for taking the time to reply. There are a lot of words that I need to research further to see what they mean, such as Shoshin, Getto and most interestingly, president Wantanabe. I wonder what he could be president/CEO of back in the early 1900’s. Any ideas help and are much appreciated! Thank you for your time and help friends! john 1 Quote
