Hi all

I am having trouble shipping a sword to Canada Fedex will not ship it, calling it a weapon. I informed them it was not a weapon but a work of art. any advice would be very helpful.

As a Canadian, I like USPS the best. If sent airmail there is no broker involved. They charge a lot of money for not much work that I can see. The US postal service is reasonable and resonably secure. I have only lost one thing and that was a blade stolen. There is a long series of posts on that thief. I would mark the package as antique nihonto circa (give the century). To make life easier on the package put an envelope with a formal looking signed declaration declaring that the piece is a genuine antique. BTW Canada young country that it is considers anything over 50 years old an antique.
