DAY Posted February 19, 2024 Author Report Posted February 19, 2024 Lets try this again. Tech is great when it works correctly. First 2 images are from Jimi-san at Tsubashi.com item AM-0197. Lone tsuba in in my possession. Has any one run across any other Shoami willow pattern that have this design element of the semi circular cuts along the edge ? Just curious if this element is common to a particular branch of the Shoami school ? Thanks David 1 Quote
FlorianB Posted February 20, 2024 Report Posted February 20, 2024 Looks like the simplified upper end of a curtain to me, so I can imagine there’s a curtain behind the tree or the tree itself is as a pattern on the curtain. Not sure about the right term - noren or jinmaku. Best, Florian Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted February 20, 2024 Report Posted February 20, 2024 横断幕 Oudanmaku might be the best description. Quote
