looks to be signed Sa  if so, and if genuine then mid to late 1300's......... does it have a paper?  If so post a picture maybe it will give help...  What does the owner or dealer say (they have it in hand)?

It is paperless. The owner says its Sa. The seller gave no real proof other than the signature.

is it in Japan or USA?  Is the seller knowledgeable about swords?  Sa is a BIG name, it is worth a lot if real, if i owned it i would get an NBTHK paper before selling

Sorry. I didn't know if a more dedicated discussion on the swords age should been part of that thread or a more dedicated one. In hindsight I probably shouldn't have made this thread.
