This year, I plan to attend my first sword show and I was wondering how attendees typically get any purchases of blades home, if they fly to the show. Personally, I’d be reluctant to transport a sword in a checked case. But is this a common practice. Or, are blades often shipped to the purchaser?

i use a hard golf bag case with wheels. Easy to handle and attracts less attention. i put a letter inside for TSA saying there are swords inside and they are sharp and fragile.  I wrap them in bubble wrap and tape them that way TSA is less likely to  touch them

What Mark and Thomas state above are great ways of doing it. Easiest way, if you have time, is to go by a USPS, Fed-Ex, UPS place and ship the sword to yourself. BUT, if that is not possible, then checked luggage and direct flights are the best bet.

Last bit of advice, stick an Apple airtag in the box or container with the sword. You can watch in real time where your stuff is going if you transfer planes, and ensure it continues to travel with you.
