Good morning, astute thinkers.

I recently acquired a nice wakizashi with these F/K

I am not sure of course so here I am:

I believe most of these are referred as Mito or Omori Waves.
these are not signed so not super high quality but any other info, leads, and thoughts would be helpful to narrow down the school and look for study pieces to compare.

 Respectfully

 Ron

Whilst I can find a plethora of wave F/K, finding one with the gold "mist" over the waves has beaten me so far. I will keep looking but at least the design is not common which has its own merits. Surely there are small fitting experts out there that can steer the search better than me.

Good luck with it they are very nice pieces.

Hi Ron

If you look at any images of Omori waves and compare them with yours the difference will jump out at you

Omori waves are expensive for a very good reason

I am so far still not finding much except:

1) using the nashiji-zogan technique in this way are Omori, Kumagai, and Goto.

2) Kaga does use these little windows (clouds) shapes but usually have regular inlay. Goto almost always has the nanakoji background somewhere on the piece.

so still at a loss for study but having a good time 😉
