US Army Infantry Collection Mon Identification

does anyone recognize this mon?

It’s maru ni mitsu kashiwa mon — a three-leaved oak crest. The Makino clan used it quite a bit but this is a quite common motif.

Hi Christopher, do you have further pictures of this sword? Am somewhat envious of your position to go through all these swords, I bet there are some really interesting ones with historical provenance there.

I do not have more photos of this sword. Only took one of the mon. The blade did not appear to be anything special, but then I did not have a look under the handle. 
 

We have swords from Japanese general officers, battle damaged swords, and at least one sword captured on Guadalcanal.

If you have the time it would be fantastic to see the General officers swords. They are usually something special.

I was able to handle and disassemble 2 of them. Will post on a separate thread.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here

To have the blades open to display is not good practice,  yes it's very dramatic but leads to Several possibilities of ruin, I would try to convince the curators to be open to 

different display.
