Sansei Posted January 11, 2024 Report Posted January 11, 2024 Worth a million? Bullion is at 65.21 USD per gram so 200g around 13k USD. So you are paying for the unique artwork mainly. I will pass on this. Gold coins or bullion at 99.99 purity would be a more appropriate investment imo. 😊 2 Quote
Stephen Posted January 13, 2024 Report Posted January 13, 2024 https://buyee.jp/ite.../auction/t1119327797 Wondering why I'm not blocked to bid on Buyee. Many times I've been told I can't bid because their bots spot the word gold in sellers ad even if to say gold he sells in his shop. Or inlay, often takes numerous support contracts before a real person reads and and lifts the bidding. Anyway I doubt it's solid gold. 1 Quote

Bugyotsuji Posted January 16, 2024 Report Posted January 16, 2024 The listing does say 金無垢 'kin muku' i.e. pure or solid gold, but then it says 18k, and in the blurb at the bottom it does say that there are no guarantees, it is an amateur guess, and final judgement and responsibility reside with the buyer. The box is surprisingly downmarket, and the lid is on back-to-front. PS Some dealers show something desirable but out of reach in order to draw attention to their business. 1 Quote

goo Posted February 12, 2024 Report Posted February 12, 2024 Hi everyone this is my first post; Lower Karat gold can be made to appear as higher karat gold by a process known as surface depletion of the alloy usually copper and silver. The common term is pickling, after the gold alloy is heated the copper oxidizes and turns brown and black. The metal is then placed into a mid acid solution which dissolves the dark oxidized copper. In the workshop this is done in order clean the metal in preparation for/during soldering and fabrication of the piece. It can also fool the electronic xray guns because they only analyse the top layer of several microns. 3 Quote
