zsg1313 Posted January 8, 2024 Report Posted January 8, 2024 Good morning all, I purchased this tsuba on a whim thinking it would look nice on a modern sword. I was wondering if anyone had any insight to whether it would be a reproduction or not. Thank you! Zach 1 Quote
Stephen Posted January 8, 2024 Report Posted January 8, 2024 I'm very often wrong on tsuba....looks old to me. Others will correct. 1 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted January 8, 2024 Report Posted January 8, 2024 It looks authentic, but possibly not a genuine KANEIE TSUBA. MEI reads YAMASHIRO KUNI FUSHIMI no JU KANEIE 3 Quote
zsg1313 Posted January 8, 2024 Author Report Posted January 8, 2024 Thanks, I appreciate the info! Quote
Steves87 Posted January 8, 2024 Report Posted January 8, 2024 I agree with Jean also. There is tenzogan there (a pretty good indicator), and one of the hitsu-ana has a space for a sekigane, which regardless of the possibility of being put in post manufacture, I have yet to see one on a cast (or modern) Tsuba. 2 Quote
Spartancrest Posted January 9, 2024 Report Posted January 9, 2024 I am with the other guys - just disregard the signature, there are far too many Kaneie style guards that are gimei. The tsuba can stand on its own merits. [If the signatures proves correct, so much the better] 1 Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted January 9, 2024 Report Posted January 9, 2024 Impulse buying = *usually fatal. *but not always 1 1 Quote
