DTM72 Posted January 6, 2024 Report Posted January 6, 2024 I have two Navy belts but one has a hook design that I have never seen before. I usually see the spring loaded clip at the end of the straps, but this one I just got has a type of a loop. The belt is also slightly different with 3 rows of stitching on the outside whereas my other one has the stitching on the inside only. Thoughts? Quote
Ian B3HR2UH Posted January 6, 2024 Report Posted January 6, 2024 Here are a couple of mine Dan . The " hook " fitting is more typical of Army belts but I am sure it is just a choice of the manufacturer . Ian Brooks 2 1 Quote
John C Posted January 6, 2024 Report Posted January 6, 2024 Haven't seen them before, however seems like the spring clip breaks easily so it makes sense. Here is one for sale. John C. 1 1 Quote
DTM72 Posted January 6, 2024 Author Report Posted January 6, 2024 Looking in my F & G, the buckle on the one I am asking about is Fig. 70 item (iii) a Junior officer…since it has the silver anchor and sakura. My other one has the all brass version shown as item (v). Quote
DTM72 Posted January 6, 2024 Author Report Posted January 6, 2024 @John C @Ian B3HR2UH looking in the above mentioned F & G, I actually found the round hook in the Army section. Never would’ve thought to look there. Thanks for mentioning it! 1 Quote
Scogg Posted January 6, 2024 Report Posted January 6, 2024 It is much like the hook design on my Type 98’s hanger chain Cheers, -Sam 2 1 Quote

Guest Simon R Posted January 7, 2024 Report Posted January 7, 2024 Usually found on army service belts, they are called 'snail hooks' (for obvious reasons). The free hanging hook at the top is to latch the snail hook onto when a sword is not being worn. Quote
