Have I wasted my money?

I put a "flippant" snipe bid on a set of five Japanese books with the full expectation that I would easily be out bid - woke this morning to find I had won.

Now my bid was for the 'princely' sum of 550 yen, however, what I ended paying was 220 yen, So what did the other bidders [3] see that caused them not to pay more than a rather miserable $1.55 USD !     Have I done my money?

The only thing I could say here is, if you'd paid ￥100 it would have been an even better bargain!

Sounds like a great buy--sometimes, it's all due to timing. 

 

Of course, the other end of the spectrum is overpaying...don't drink and bid, friends.

I am up to date with my covid shots - plague not so much. 

I may yet die of old age before the books arrive - I have been waiting more than a month, maybe the germs will have died of boredom by now?

   I use two of those books on a regular basis, and the third one is worth worth at least $35-50 USD.

Five books for 220 yen - I did some searching and found all the books and how much they may be worth. One book  https://www.kosho.or...product_id=463880621  Selling for ￥35,149  which is equal to USD $234.74.

There is one up for auction https://page.auction.../auction/w1124581388 or  https://www.jauce.com/auction/w1124581388 with a start at ￥5,000  [still substantially more than what I paid]

You can understand why I thought the lack of serious bidders was very odd!
