Dan tsuba Posted December 27, 2023 Report Posted December 27, 2023 Just wanted to share my latest tsuba purchase! I received this Uchimimikaeshi tsuba today. I think it is really nice with the owl in the tree! Have not seen one like this before. This is the first Uchimimkaeshi tsuba I have in my collection. With respect, Dan 5 1 Quote
MauroP Posted December 27, 2023 Report Posted December 27, 2023 Hi Dan, I think your tsuba (a nice one, BTW) should be better described as hineri-kaeshi-mimi (捻り返し耳). 3 Quote
Dan tsuba Posted December 28, 2023 Author Report Posted December 28, 2023 Thanks Mauro for your assistance on the correct description of the tsuba. Much appreciated! With respect, Dan Quote

Spartancrest Posted December 28, 2023 Report Posted December 28, 2023 A signed Jakushi which is very similar to Saga Kaneie work. https://www.facebook...&type=3&locale=en_GB https://bilbaomuseoa...f-ingles-2-55-mb.pdf http://mizusumashi.com/post-11668/ "Ironwork four-way folded large tsuba, Kaneie, stolen item." Any one seen this stolen guard? One of mine I picked up for about half the asking price several years after it appeared in a catalogue. A lot of these are described as being by Kaneie but I seriously doubt that Nobuie, Jakushi and Kaneie three BIG names all did this style and decorated them so similarly - they were far too busy doing twenty different styles all ascribed to them! This one still listed on ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/404702540914 https://www.jauce.com/auction/e1096786988 An older auction that had a heap of possible makers lined up! Bugyotsuji Posted December 29, 2023 Report Posted December 29, 2023 As to the black kite (Tobi or Tombi), here is one I saw yesterday. My first ever attempt to get one in flight. I was waiting to get a better shot, but it was actually circling in order to gain height so this was at maximum zoom. 1 Quote
