Here’s one more sword Im thinking of buying

Its not a Sukesada but it has papers

Now I never bought one with papers so I think they are  legit ? The whole blade looks nice as well as the saya

Again I appreciate and additional advice

3800 but I believe I can get it for less

I’m also Leary buying from Japan since I never had before

The origami seems legit. Dated 1999, which matches the imprinted dots in the upper left side. It also notes it is a wakizashi, if that's what you are looking for.

Why do you like the blade?

How does it fit in your collection?

Is the condition acceptable to you at this price?

Do you know what the papers say?

There were a ton of Kanesada’s… do you know which Kanesada this is?

Have you compared this Kanesada’s blades against similar Kanesada blades (or blades from similar smiths of the same size, school, type, mei, period, condition, mountings, etc.) at other sites to see if this is a fair price?

And finally, do you like the blade at this price no matter what we think?  At the end of the day, that is really what matters.

Steve

why are you calling this a WW2 sword?

and I’ll offer the same opinion as on your other sword……buying off eBay from a Tokyo sword dealer …….likely to be very expensive.

Do you know the seller? Can you trust him?

It’s a wakizashi…….generally nowhere near as desirable as a long sword or Tanto. Are you concerned about recouping your outlay?…..because you won’t on this one.

It’s on eBay at $3000 obo……where have you seen it at $3800??

Seriously Steve, keep your money in your pocket for now except to  buy some relevant books. Study to gain a basic grasp of this complex subject. Understand the pitfalls that are waiting in this marketplace and buy a good sword from someone you can trust when you find a sword you really like “in hand”.

You have been given excellent advice by many people on the various swords that you post but you seem determined to ignore that advice.

Can I ask…..what books have you actually read/studied?

I honestly wish that, instead of deleting my critical comments, the bloody administrators would simply cancel my account.
(Apparently, I can't do it myself. This site is like the Hotel California - you can check out but never leave.)

Think of it as an Xmas present.

I totally agree with @SRDRowson!!!! On one side there is this guy who doesn’t want to learn, doesn’t respect anyone, doesn’t respect nihonto, only hears what he wants to hear, and uses this  forum and its members to buy and sell some swords…on the other side there are people who gave their best to teach him..and still trying to teach him..why deleting their comments instead of removing this troll? Every post he creates ends up being a locked discussion!!!

Thank you, sir.

My thoughts exactly.

If you don't have something useful or educational to say, then :lipssealed:

It's like being married.  You have to come to the point where you realize you cannot change your spouse, she (or he) is what she is. Once you accept that, you can then just talk to her where she's at and not get frustrated about it (or at least not show it outwardly! Ha!).

"Useful or educational" is great - if it's ever taken on board.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

So, in the end, the horse represents only dog food and glue.

I agree with Brian This is why you I’m not going to post any more swords. Or ask any questions!  You want to know what books I read . How about giving me some authors that would be helpful rather than more criticism

I moved from Del Web in Texas because there is as so much immature babbling from older people Now I feel like I never left

@Swords…..and if you use some initiative and look on Amazon  in the books section for “Japanese sword” you will find numerous excellent books on the subject……that you probably also won’t read.

Anyway that’s enough immature babble from an old person who tried to help you.

Goodbye and good luck.

Me thinks it's time for another sabaticle,  reading grown-ups who's opion I respect feel the need to belittle a new student who is obviously a special needs,  only bring them self down to that level,  after the first few educated tips ignored why keep trying?

As far as my posts being deleted I guess I'm just as curious why , oh I know mine would not made sense if left but when the have they anyway.

Not my forum, don't make the rules.

Carry-on

That's being ass-ist.

Asses can be inspirational too.

The Kanesada smith who made this sword is quite unknown smith. He seems to often use the signature 野田五郎藤原金定 - Noda Gorō Fujiwara Kanesada, and working late 1600's to early 1700's. Worked in Mino and possibly in Owari too. Markus has also following mentioned in his index "he focused mainly on the production of kogatana".

I am having difficulties in finding reference items from this smith, here are couple

Wakizashi: https://www.seiyudo.com/wa-070123.htm

Katana: https://buyee.jp/ite.../auction/g1087538057
